Questions about Dentures

Tulsa, Oklahoma

People of all generations have had problems with tooth loss. The ancient Etruscans were the first to create artificial dentures to replace missing teeth. Fortunately, we have come a long way since 700 B.C. and can offer you the latest, state of the art dentures to replace your lost teeth. Here are some common questions you may have about dentures.

Do I really need Dentures? Or is there another option?

Arriving at the decision to go with dentures is no easy matter. You can rest assured that Dr. White carefully evaluates your entire oral health situation before deciding, with your full input, on a treatment option of dentures. In some cases, other options, such as dental bridges, or dental implants, may be evaluated or even tried prior to settling on dentures.

How do I care for my Dentures?

In order to get the longest life out of your dentures it is important to take good care of them. Here are four things you should do to take care of your dentures.

  • Handle them carefully and remove them over a towel or cloth in case they slip
  • Brush and rinse every day to remove stains and food particles
  • Use gentle soap or denture cleaners and avoid regular toothpaste or other abrasive material
  • Keep dentures moist in cool or cold water when not in use

Are my Dentures permanent? Or will they need to be replaced?

Once you start with dentures then you will likely need them for the rest of your life. Because of the excessive amount of use they undergo, and potential changes in the underlying bone tissue, dentures may need to be replaced every five to ten years.

Will people notice my Dentures?

Dentures not only help you chew your food, they help with your appearance too. Because of that fact, Dr. White does his best to create natural looking dentures to minimize the change in your smile. Some people close to you may notice that your smile has improved, but will not necessarily call dentures to mind.

How much do Dentures cost and do you have any payment options?

The cost of dentures varies greatly depending on your specific needs, but may be up to several thousand dollars. In most cases, insurance will cover some of the cost and at White Smile and Cosmetic Dentistry; we accept most major insurance plans.

You can pay for your dentures and services using any major credit card. We also have other credit options available should you need assistance paying for your dentures; just ask a member of the office team to find out more information.
