Adults who have crooked teeth may not want to undergo the time or the embarrassment of wearing braces. Fortunately, there are other alternatives that address each of those issues. Dr. White can fit you with an alternative called Invisalign.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign aligners are clear plastic trays that you wear all the time except when eating or while cleaning. Every two weeks, you switch trays that are configured to move your teeth to the desired goal in a gentle manner. Over time, your teeth will be in proper position to give you a new, natural looking smile.
Is Invisalign better than braces?
The option for realigning your teeth with braces or Invisalign is based on the severity of your problem. In instances where your teeth are severely maloccluded, orthodontia may be the recommended course. Dr. White carefully evaluates the alignment of your teeth to ensure that you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatments. If you are a good candidate, there are several benefits when choosing Invisalign:
- The trays are virtually invisible when worn
- They can easily be removed for eating and cleaning
- It only takes about a year in most cases
How does Invisalign work?
After a careful examination, Dr. White will determine if you will benefit from Invisalign mouth aligners. Impressions are performed to create a three dimensional image of your teeth. Using Invisalign's Computer Aided Design software, your tooth alignment is simulated to go from where you are to where you want to be. Several aligner trays are created to map that progress and move your teeth into eventual alignment.
How long does the process take?
The entire process can take approximately one year. Every two weeks, the next aligner in the series is used, bringing your teeth that much closer to the desired alignment. The trays must be worn as directed however, in order for the process to work in the desired period.
How much does Invisalign cost?
The costs may vary based on the extent of the treatment. For minor adjustments, the costs may be approximately $3,500. When correcting more complicated bite issues, the costs may be as much as $5,200. We accept all forms of credit card payments and even have financing available should you need it. You can also check with your insurance company to see if they provide any coverage for the procedure.
